Software required to decode weather satellite transmissions

Automatic picture transmission (APT) picture transmissions from the polar orbiting satellites (NOAA and Meteor) have no definite start as the satellites are, for all practical purposes, transmitting pictures continuously.

Numerous software programmes written to decode weather satellite transmissions are available on the Internet. Patrik Tast of Västervik in Finland released APTDecoder v 2.0.5.88, which is free and allows capturing NOAA APT audio, convertion into weather images and subsequently processing these to add colour as well as remove noise and much more.
